5 Fall Must-Haves for Outdoorsy Kids
The gear we can’t go without to keep our kids warm and dry on all our adventures.
1.Wool Baselayers & Socks are thermo regulating so perfect for fluctuating temperatures and will provide warmth even when wet. In addition to layering, these are also our go-to travel outfit & PJs. (IKSPLOR DISCOUNT CODE: BRIGHTONPEACHY ).
2. Fleece is a must have for all year long! For younger toddlers and babies I love a fleece bunting to throw on and keep them cozy, and for older kids a good fleece jacket or even these fleece overalls which my boys love. You can always find good fleece second hand so check your local thrift, consignment, or fb marketplace.
3. Waterproof Outer Layer to keep your little one dry and having fun no matter the weather! The fleece lined rain gear is GREAT for the fall. Since we live somewhere very wet all year long I opted for the non-lined so we can use them all year long. But I highly recommend the soft rubber ones, like these overalls and this jacket, because they stay dry no matter how long you're out in the rain unlike some rain jackets that will eventually start to soak through. 4. Durable pants are great to toss on over things or wear themselves. I opt for super rugged ones like Carhartts or baby Carhartts that won't rip when little ones are crawling around or sliding on their bums or such.
5. Waterproof shoes will keep your kids feet dry despite the conditions which will keep your kids happy. Reina's waterproof boots and shoes have worked great for us! Past years my kids hiked in lightweight rainboots (love these Oakiones) . ( REIMA DISCOUNT CODE: BRIGHTON20 )
Bonus. Puffy Jacket is a versatile essential to keep your kiddo warm! Synthetic is great for wet weather, but we also love down for is packability, lightweight warmth, and water resistance. The piece transitions perfectly to other seasons as well. Layer it over a fleece and under a shell for winter months. You can usually find these on fb marketplace or snag one during the REI sale.
